and the winner is...again...

i win the biggest jackass award today!

julie and i had these big plans to send rusty an ice cream cake tuesday afternoon for his birthday. and it was going to be a surprise. so we kept sending him subtle emails "i'm really craving strawberry ice cream...with nuts...what kind do you like rusty?" not in those exact words but similar...my favorite, which leads to a whole other story between just the three of us "do you like nuts?". anyway, we were getting nowhere. so i email julie. here's how it went:

cb: so do you want me to order the cake? i'm going to get a card tonight...and mail it with the cd.
jh: we might as well ask rusty what cake he wants now.
     yeah order it. i don't care what kind.
     laughed until i started to cry.
cb: laughed at what??
jh: did you mean to send the cake email to rusty?
cb: oh shit.
     i did, didn't i?
     let me see if i can recall it!!!
cb (to jh and rf): oops.
     i'm a dumbass.
cb (to jh): how do you put up with me?
jh: it was sooo funny!
     besides, it's not that much better as a surprise, as we won't be there anyway.

i'm glad my friends love me just the way i am, being as that was my bridget jones moment of the day.

and thank you to rusty for deciding to call me flower when i said i was happy never to have chosen thumper as a nickname i wanted to be called.

i still keep giggling over that whole thing. it must be hard to be my friend as some point. you'd think i was a blonde or something. i seriously think i'm the smartest airhead i know.

anyway, i realize, alicia, that i have not posted sonogram pics, but don't worry. i will! soon!

thanks jenn for agreeing on the cookies...i too would much rather have "other" treats. my current fave is hint of lime tortilla chips...dipped in sour cream if it's around. if not, then just eating them plain.

and now i'm going to post some pics of my office space (which aren't very good) so you all can get a better understanding of my workspace (kind of clean right now). please note the bright pink hardhat. YES, i do wear that to site visits.

how to tell if you are a complete moron at the gym

so my elliptical was once again full. they only have 4 of them so it's tough to find one open. instead of being smart and just doing the stairmaster for a bit i decided to once again try my luck on a treadmill. did i mention that i hate to run? after all those years of running track i hate it. our joke in high school was for every 100 meters you sprinted, you had to do one mile of training a day. my max was luckily 400 meter relays so 4 miles a day (and a couple of 6 mile days). my body is not built for cross country, nor when i joined the track team, did i ever WANT to run more than 2 miles. ever.

anyway, back to my idiotic moment.

so there i am DYING of heatstroke when all of the sudden my ipod goes flying through the air (it was in the little hole in front of me on the machine - i must have hit my earbud cord with my flailing arms), hits the treadmill and starts conveying itself to the back of the machine. i, in my stupidity and shock, STOP running and basically fall off the back of the machine along with my ipod. but i landed on my feet, being ever so catlike. i jump up laughing and turn to the poeple behind me (on MY machine) and say "well, that was entertaining" or something equally stupid and get back on the machine (still going, mind you). how embarassing you think? oh it gets better. 10 minutes later i do the EXACT SAME THING. EXACTLY. i mean, to do it once is fine. to do it twice in one workout is shameful. so i am officially a moron when it comes to the treadmill

i am the biggest jackass to walk the planet.

first things first, the official word on the street (or rather, from the doctor) is that i have laryngitis. my vocal cords are severely inflamed and swollen (hence sore throat) and i am supposed to talk (make that squeak or whisper since talking isn't even in my vocabulary right now) as little as possible. my voice may not come back for several days. sweet. i'm on prednisone, a z-pak and robitussin with codeine for nighttime sleeping coughs. yay! drugs! if i'm smart i should go work out right now while i'm on roids and get all ripped. maybe if i take them long enough hair will grow on my chest! that would be a little bit weird consider i obsess over the small bit of hair on my upper lip.

and on another note (my jackass comment). are you all ready to make fun of me? last night i fell asleep on the couch. at about 9:30 i heard a huge bang in the back bedroom and it went on for a little while (about 20 seconds maybe) by then i was already out the back door freaked out. i hear noises in the house but nothing like this. and it wasn't just a bang...it was a bang and then other noises. those of you who have been to my house know that in that room there is a back door with a deadbolt into my landlords junk room that he never locks. my door is of course kept locked. so i ran around to the front of the complex and his car was there. i knocked and rang the doorbell several times but he didn't answer. i didn't know what to do and i wasn't about to go back in the house so i did the only thing i could do at that moment. i called 911. no voice.  it was sweet let me tell you...having to squeak out all the details. i was so scared. when they showed up like 3 minutes later (two on the scene first, three more 1 minute later) i was still shaking badly. so they went and checked it out and took me down there and guess what? (i'm sure you've figured out i had no burglar) my huge ass shelf in that bedroom that had all my craft stuff in boxes fell down. hence why the noise kept going because more stuff was settling. when i saw it i started crying because as i told the police officer in my not so cute squeaks "i am such a jackass! i am so sorry!" but i could tell he kind of felt bad since i obviously was pretty shaken up so he asked me if i had anyone who could come stay with me...i think he was trying not to laugh but at the same time he could tell i seriously thought someone bad had come in.

so there i am in one long paragraph. a big chicken jackass. i called 911 for a fallen shelf. this is where you start laughing because everytime i squeak the story out to someone i have to laugh too.
